Mumbai: A 29-year-old unmarried Navy sailor was found hanging in the Colaba naval area early Wednesday, naval officials said.
“Prima facie, it appears to be a case of suicide. A statutory board of inquiry is being ordered. A case has also been registered with the police,” said an official.
Other particulars like the sailor’s identity, which part of India he hailed from, his family details, and probable causes of suicide were not immediately available.The suicide comes in the wake of a rising number of suicide cases across the country. The pandemic induced lockdown has had a major impact on the mental health of denizens prompting the government and several orhanisations setting up mental health helplines for assstance.
