Koraput: India Reserve Battalion (IRB) jawans rescued as many as 80 labourers from Chilibalsa gate on the Odisha-Andhra Pradesh border during a security check, a source said Tuesday.

The source informed that the labourers are residents of Narayanapatna area in Koraput district. They were being taken to Andhra Pradesh’s Guntur to work as migrant labourers.

One of the rescued workers mentioned, “We were going to other states for work as we generally do not get any work here in Odisha. Whatever work we get here, the pay is so low that it becomes hard to manage the family”.

The labourer further added that the jawans stopped their bus to check its papers and permit.

No comments from local police or IRB jawans could be obtained in this regard at the time of filing this report.
