Khallikote: Rabindra Das, 38, husband of Tulasipur panchayat’s naib sarpanch Minati Kumari Das, was hacked to death allegedly by his nephews and their associates over family disputes at Haripur village under this police limits in Ganjam district Wednesday morning. Reports said Rabindra was engaged in illegal liqour trade which led to a business rivalry with his nephews. He was jailed in November last year for hurling bombs at his nephews.
The deceased was released on bail, three months back and living with his wife at Kanchana village. Rabindra and his wife had visited Kamalapadar village to attend a feast but stayed back at Haripur. When Rabindra stepped out of his house, Wednesday morning, two of his nephews and their two associates attacked him with swords and hacked him to death.
Chhatrapur SDPO Chandan Ghadei, Khallikote inspector-in-charge (IIC) Ramesh Kumar Pradhan and police officials reached the spot and started an investigation. The exact reason behind the murder could be ascertained only after the probe is completed, the IIC added. The deceased had several cases pending at Khallikote police station. Police sent the body for post-mortem and started an investigation. A scientific team also reached the spot and collected blood samples and other evidence related to the crime.
