Bhubaneswar: Several social media users shared their views following Naveen Patnaik’s resignation as chief minister, Wednesday. While many called it an end of an era, others remembered Patnaik as someone who put Odisha on the global map. The netizens thanked him for his work and dedication.

An account named ‘Nomadic’, in a post on X, wrote, “Since my childhood the meaning of CM I knew was a name, a person. He’s none other than our beloved @Naveen_Odisha . My tongue might fumble to address him as ex-CM or former CM of Odisha. The man who represented Odisha for the last 24 years is going to take his retirement from the only work he was best in. We’ll always keep you in our hearts. The way we still remember Biju Babu, you’ll also be remembered Sir.” The above post was captioned ‘Legends never die, they become a part of you’.

Naimisha, a social media user thanked Patnaik for his work. She said, “No matter what, as an Odia I will always be proud of Naveen Patnaik ji for his simplicity and honesty. People of Odisha did and will always love him but he can’t be replaced by any of his ‘successor’ that’s what is the message. He battled many cyclones but lost to the waves.” Another user said, “He was perhaps the last of the old style statesmanlike politicians who carried himself with grace, dignity, composure and never resorted to ugly personal attacks or hate speeches said another user.”

Debasis Sarangi wrote, “If not for anything else, Naveen Patnaik Ji you will be remembered for promoting sports, especially Hockey.” Every social media was flooded with words of praises for Patnaik’s pivotal role in disaster management and making Odisha the sports capital.
