New Delhi: Indian women cricketers Jhulan Goswami and Mithali Raj have achieved new milestones in their careers during the India-Sri Lanka ODI game which was played Tuesday at Galle. India won the game by nine wickets.
Premier India pacer Goswami became the first woman cricketer to scalp 300 wickets in international cricket while her skipper Mithali became the most capped captain in eves’ ODIs, with 118 games.
The BCCI took note of their achievements and congratulated them on achieving their respective feats. “It’s a special win for India Women against Sri Lanka in the first ODI. Goswami became the first woman to take 300 international wickets and Mithali became the most capped captain in women’s ODIs. Today (Tuesday) she led India for the 118th time!” BCCI Women posted on their Twitter handle.
Goswami currently has 301 international wickets to her name. Her 300th scalp came in form of Sri Lankan top order batter Nipuni Hansika. The West Bengal star, who recently called time on her T20I career, has 40 wickets in Tests, 205 in ODIs and 56 in T20Is to her name.
Mithali, on the other hand, surpassed Charlotte Edwards, who led England’s ODI side on 117 occasions followed by Belinda Clark of Australia who captained the Aussies 101 times in the 50-over format.
