Puri: The new office bearers to Daitapati Niyog, the apex body of influential Daita servitors of Srimandir, were elected here Thursday.
According to sources, senior servitor Rabindra Dasmahapatra has been elected as the president of Daitapati Niyog while Durgaprasad Dasmahapatra was declared as secretary to the servitors’ body. Similarly, Suryanarayan Swain Mahapatra and Chandrasekhar Dasmahapatra have been elected as the vice-president and treasurer of Daitapati Niyog respectively.
Amit Dasmahapatra has been elected as the assistant secretary to Daitapati Niyog, sources said.
Earlier, altogether 15 servitors were elected to the working committee of Daitapati Niyog.
“There was only one nomination each for the posts of president, vice-president, secretary and treasurer to Daitapati Niyog. However, there were two nominations for the post of assistant secretary,” said a source.
Notably, Daita servitors play an important role in the annual Rath Yatra of Srimandir deities.
