Bhubaneswar, June 26: In a new twist to the story of Sujata Pradhan, the missing rugby player, her father is exceptionally keen to find about the cash award of `25,000 that she is supposed to receive from the state government for being a member of the team that won the National Games gold medal.
Sujata allegedly has eloped with Pravat Pradhan, a mason, who is well known to her family. In another development, Sujata allegedly called up Laxmipriya Sahoo, another rugby player Thursday night but did not disclose where she was calling from.
However, more than her whereabouts, her father Kailash is desperate to get the `25,000 in his kitty. Orissa women’s team coach, Dhiren Kumar Rout stated Friday that Kailash had requested him to replace his daughter’s account number with his (Kailash) so that the amount can be directly transferred to it. “Sometime back, Kailash had approached me and requested me to change the account number. But I refused as that is purely the discretion of the state government,” informed Dhiren.
Sources confirmed that although Sujata hasn’t received the sum from the state government, Kailash has visited her two or three times in the past one month to bring her back home. When his efforts didn’t fructify, he complained to the police that his daughter has gone missing from the Kalinga Stadium. The same sources stated that Kailash allegedly is well aware of his daughter’s whereabouts.
Dhiren and other rugby players at the Kalinga Stadium also informed that Sujata had called up teammate Laxmipriya to take the contact number of Manas Kumar Jena, who incidentally, is the coach of the men’s team. However, she did not tell Laxmi as to where she is at present. “We have come to know that she, so far, has not contacted Manas. Also the number that she had called from has since then remained switched off. We have tried calling her on that,” informed Dhiren.
