India win in super over

Wellington: The ongoing New Zealand vs India series witnessed yet another nail-biting superover after the scores were tied at 168.

Setting a target of 14 to win, New Zealand’s stand-in skipper Tim Southee took the the field to face KL Rahul and Kohli who opened the innings in the absence of the rested Rohit Sharma. Rahul scored a six and a four in the first two balls before getting out. Kohli took two runs off the fourth ball before dispatching Southee to the boundaries to win the fourth T20I and take an impressive 4-0 lead in the series.

Pressure mounts on India

Wellington: Batting first, India set a target of 168/8 against New Zealand in the fourth T20I here. In response, the Black Caps who posted figures of 130/3 in 15 overs now require 36 runs from five overs to win the match.

Tim Seifert 38 (22b) and Ross Taylor 15 (10b) remain on the pitch in pursuit of New Zealand’s first win in the series.

India post 165-8 in 20 overs

Wellington: Manish Pandey smashed an unbeaten half-century as India posted 165 for eight against New Zealand in the fourth T20 International here Friday.

Pandey blasted three fours in his 36-ball 50, while opener KL Rahul had three hits to the fence and two sixes in his 26-ball 39.

For New Zealand, Ish Sodhi (3/26) took three wickets, Hamish Bennett (2/41) picked two, while Tim Southee (1/28), Scott Kuggeleijn (1/39) and Mitchell Santner (1/26) accounted for one each.

Earlier, New Zealand stand-in skipper Tim Southee won the toss and elected to field. Regular skipper Kane Williamson was ruled out of the match, owing to a shoulder injury.

India have rested Rohit Sharma, Mohammed Shami and Ravindra Jadeja for the match, bringing in the trio of Sanju Samson, Navdeep Saini and Washington Sundar.

India lead the five-match series 3-0.

Wellington: New Zealand’s stand-in skipper Tim Southee’s decision to opt to field after winning the toss against India seems to have paid dividends as the Black Cap restricted the tourists to 83/4 at the end of the first ten overs in the fourth T20I here Friday.

NZ win toss, choose to field, Rohit Sharma rested

Wellington: New Zealand stand-in skipper Tim Southee won the toss and elected to field against India in the fourth T20 International at Sky Stadium here Friday.

New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson was ruled out of the match, owing to a shoulder injury and Southee will lead the Black Caps in his absence.

The hosts made two changes, bringing in Tom Bruce and Daryl Mitchell in place of Williamson and Colin de Grandhomme.

India, on the other hand, decided to rest Rohit Sharma, Mohammed Shami and Ravindra Jadja and the trio were replaced by Sanju Samson, Navdeep Saini and Washington Sundar in the playing XI.

India lead the five-match series 3-0.
