India sweep series 5-0

Mount Maunganui: India defeated New Zealand by seven runs in the fifth and final T20I here Sunday to win the series 5-0. In doing so, Team India registered their first clean sweep against the Black Caps in New Zealand.

With Virat Kohli rested, Rohit Sharma took to the field as stand-in skipper and produced an impressive knock of 60 from 41 balls before being retired hurt. India posted 163 for three, riding on Sharma’s 60 off 41 balls and a 33-ball 45 from K L Rahul. The visitors then restricted the hosts to 156 for nine with Jasprit Bumrah claiming three wickets for 12 runs.

Mount Maunganui: After putting 163/3 on board, Indian bowlers have managed to restrict New Zealand to 98/3 at the end of ten overs in the 5th T20I here Sunday.

Ross Taylor looks at his devastating best with 41 from just 24 balls as the Black Caps aim for a win in the series that India leads 4-0.

India set 164-run target for NZ

Mount Maunganui: India made 163 for three in the fifth and final T20 International against New Zealand at the Bay Oval here Sunday. Rohit Sharma got retired hurt on 60 off 41 balls and K L Rahul made 45 off 33 balls.India set 164-run target for NZ

Pacer Scott Kuggeleijn was the stand out bowler for the hosts, taking two wickets for 25 runs in four overs.  India captain Virat Kohli has been rested for the game and Rohit is the leading the side in his absence.

Rohit batted at number three to make way for Sanju Samson at the top of the order. However, Samson (2) could not make use of the opportunity.

India lead the five-match series 4-0.

Rahul magic continues

Mount Maunganui: Coming first down after Sanju Samson’s ouster, KL Rahul continued his stellar form in the series with an impressive 42 from 28 balls against New Zealand in the fifth T20I here Sunday.

Rohit Sharma, India’s stand-in skipper in Virat Kohli’s absence added a handy 35 from 27 balls as India scored 84/1 in the first ten overs.

Kohli-less India aim for clean-sweep

Mount Maunganui: Losing opener Sanju Samson early, India posted 44/1 in the first five overs in the fifth T20I against New Zealand here Sunday.

With captain Virat Kohli rested, stand-in skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and opted to bat first as India aim to inflict a 5-0 series clean-sweep on their hosts.
