Jagatsinghpur: In a horrific incident, the body of a newborn boy, packed in a polythene bag, was recovered from a ladies’ toilet in Gynecology department of district headquarters hospital (DHH) here Monday morning.
As per reports, a patient’s relative spotted the body when she went inside the toilet in the wee hours. She informed the security guard and nurses, following which the sweeper recovered the body from the toilet. Visuals revealed that there was blood all over the body and the baby’s face was pushed inside the latrine canal.
On intimation, the chief district medical officer (CDMO) reached the spot and began a probe into the matter. Hospital authorities were also going through the CCTV footage to determine who was behind the crime, said sources.
Reacting to this case, state Health minister Naba Kishore Das told media, “We’ll look into the matter by initiating a probe into the reason behind it and find out who is responsible for it. Guilty will be punished as per the law.”
