Bhubaneswar: The third consignment of COVID-19 vaccine Covaxin will reach Odisha in a week, informed Health and Family Welfare Director Bijay Panigrahi, Friday.
Notably, Covaxin has been developed by Bharat Biotech in collaboration with Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).
Panigrahi further said that the consignment will consist of 1,49,760 doses of the indigenous vaccine.
Addressing the media in this regard, Panigrahi said that Covaxin will be administered to beneficiaries only in Bhubaneswar. The immunization will be conducted at Primary Health Centres (PHCs) and Community Health Centres (CHCs) in the state for three days a week i.e. Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday.
Meanwhile the vaccination drive will be carried out at both government and private hospitals every day except holidays, added Panigrahi.
Notably, Thursday 44,880 beneficiaries were vaccinated at 436 session’s sites across the state. Till now a total of 1,13,623 people have been given the first dose of Covaxin and Covishield vaccines, a health department official said.
