Bhubaneswar: Taking a cautious approach to Dussehra and the upcoming festive season, the state government, amid second wave of Covid-19 and to contain any probable spread of the deadly virus, issued fresh restrictions of night curfew in the Twin city of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack from Monday.
This has been done keeping in mind the upcoming Durga Puja commencing from October 11 with Sasthi Puja, followed by Laxmi Puja.
The imposed night curfew will continue till October 20 and the restrictions will be in force from 8 PM – 5 AM during the notified days. All marketplaces and shopping malls will be allowed to remain open in the Twin City of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack from 5 AM till 8 PM every day starting October 11 till October 20.

It is pertinent to mention here that religious festivals and rituals may be celebrated and performed strictly by adhering to COVID-19 safety protocols issued by the state government August 9.
Twin City Police Commissioner Saumendra Priyadarshi warned people of stern action for disobeying the night curfew restrictions.
“If anyone does not follow the night curfew rules, the person concerned will face stringent action,” Priyadarshi said.
“Violators of the night curfew restrictions could be arrested as well. Tight vigil will be kept on persons with criminal antecedents. Those who get involved in extortion in the Twin City will face legal action,” the Police Commissioner further added.
