Nabarangpur: The night curfew imposed in Nabarangpur district since March 25 was lifted Sunday.
In order to check the spike during the second wave of COVID-19, the district administration had imposed the curfew from 8:00 pm to 6:00am three days ago. Movement of people, vehicles during the curfew hours was strictly prohibited. However, movements for medical emergency were kept out of curfew purview.
Since the district administration found the COVID-19 situation to be improving, it lifted the restrictions, a source said.
Meanwhile, the night curfew clamped in Malkangiri district is in force. Following a steep rise in COVID-19 cases in the state, the district administration imposed night curfew in the district from 9:00 pm to 6:00 am from March 23 till March 31, 2021.
During the enforcement of the night curfew, movement of individuals has been strictly prohibited except for essential activities. At the same time, the district administration also restricted the number of people in meetings, theatres, operas and cinemas to 200 during the prevalence of the night curfew.
People have been barred from participating in Dola Purnima and Holi festivals at public places scheduled for March 28 and 29 and to keep their celebrations confined. However, ‘Dola Melans’ are allowed with 50 participants with strict adherence to COVID-19 protocols.
