Puri: Vigilance officials Tuesday recovered unaccounted cash worth Rs 4, 65,000 from Rama Chandra Jena, Tehsildar and in-charge Sub-Registrar, Nimapada in Puri district.
The sleuths intercepted Jena near his official residence at Nimapara at around 5:00 AM in the morning and the money was recovered from him as he couldn’t give a satisfactory answer about the source of the cash.
Following the recovery of huge amount of money in cash from him, the sleuths carried out a search in his government quarters in Nimapara, on charges of accumulating assets disproportionate to his known sources of income. They also recovered Rs 50,000 from his house.
The anti Corruption wing officials conducted raids at his residence at Sec-11 CDA, Cuttack and his native place at Dhanmandal under Garadpur block in Kendrapara district.
Notably, properties of Mahabirod outpost in-charge Samarendra Samal were also raided Tuesday by the Vigilance sleuths on charges of amassing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
