Ninnad kicks off, holds audience spellbound

Bhubaneswar: The ninth edition of Ninnad- The Devine Sound of Dancing Bells, a three-day Odissi festival, organised by Rudrakshya Foundation was kicked off at Bhanja Kala Mandap here Friday.

The team of talented students of the foundation participated in the following categories- Devi which was choreographed by Guru Bichitrananda Swain, Sthayee, choreographed by Guru Pankaj Charan Das Basanta, Pallavi, choreographed by Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra, Pally Dance, choreographed by Rasmi Ranjan Swain and Jagyandatta Pradan, Nadayati which were choreographed by Sanjeev Kumar Jena and Satos Ram, and Ritu Raga was choreographed by Yusdhisthir Nayak and Rashmi Ranjan Barik.

Samir Mohanty, vice president of the state Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), K Ramarao Patra, an eminent Veena player and Bichitrananda Swain, executive Trustee of Rudrakshya Foundation graced the ocassion.

Rohita Pradhan, secretary of Rudrakshya Foundation said, “We are organising this dance festival to promote and propagate Odissi dance”. Every year this three-day festival is organised where students of our institute perform and showcase their talent. We feel great pleasure in spreading cultural awareness and the joyous spirit of Odissi classical arts. It is a matter of great pride that dignitaries, senior Gurus of the Capital eagerly come to witness the high-quality performances by Rudrakshya Foundation’s young dancers. We at Rudrakshya believe in showcasing its events and festivals with excellence. Ninnad is one such annual festival of Odissi dance, she added.
