Bhadaripokhari: Launching a scathing attack on the BJD government, PCC president Niranjan Patnaik said that Odisha and Chhattishgarh are the poorest states in the country even though the BJD has been in power in the state for the last 19 years.
Patnaik, who is contesting as an MLA candidate for Bhadaripokhari Assembly seat, lambasted the state government over KALIA and PEETHA.
He was addressing the party’s Paribartan rally at Chandrabhanupur here in Bhadrak Friday in the presence of other party leaders like Arya Kumar Gyanendra, MP nominee Madhumita Sethi, Pradip Majhi, Ramchandra Khuntia.
“Is this the scenario of development projected by Naveen Babu? In the 19 years of rule, Naveen could not create employment opportunities for youths. Establishment of industries has stopped in the state after former Chief Minister Janaki Ballabh Patnaik went out of power,” Patnaik observed.
He pointed out that though land has been acquired for a sugar plant at Dhamnagar during the Congress government, the plant has not been set up at yet.
“Farmers sell paddy, but they are unable to get their price. The Congress is committed to loan waiver, provision of solar pumpsets to farmers and cold storages in each block. If the Congress comes to power, it will give farmers Rs 3000 to each for three years, hike paddy MSP to Rs 2600 per quintal,” he added.
