NIT Rourkela to conduct semester exams in online mode

Rourkela: In view of the surge in COVID-19 infections in the state, the National Institute of Technology (NIT) in Rourkela Friday decided to conduct its forthcoming semester examinations in online mode.

The decision was taken in the afternoon after a large number of students of the institute protested against the NIT authorities’ plan to conduct the final examinations in offline mode this year.

In a notification in this regard, the premier technical institute stated that it will not be held responsible for any kind of glitches in internet connection at the time when candidates will be appearing for the year-end semester examinations in online mode.

Notably, NIT Rourkela had earlier issued a notification stating that the upcoming semester examinations will be held in offline mode, in two phases starting from April 5 and ending July 29.

A total of four COVID-19 cases have been detected in the institute this month triggering panic among the students. Rourkela ADM Aboli Sunil Naravane has insisted on stepping up of rapid antigen tests here.

COVID-19 safety protocols are strictly being enforced, Naravane said.
