Rourkela: Students and staff of NIT Rourkela and his classmates recalled the memory of Sayed Munib Ahmed, 21, (Iden), who died all of a sudden on the corridor of MS Swaminathan Hall of the institute May 20. His death has been shrouded in mystery while the post mortem report has not yet been made available.
It was learnt that Sayed had watched movie till 2 am the night before his death. He had also shared his happiness with his friends that day.
Sayed is a native of Bhubaneswar. His friends and NIT staff hardly believe Sayed’s passing away so suddenly and immaturely. Sayed was a multi talented student.
He was pursuing Integrated Mathematics (MSc; 3rd year). His friends and classmates were amazed by his mathematical talent.
Morning walk and offering namaz were routine for him. People of his community used to be proud of him.
He had earned name as a quiz master and received many awards and accolades, including Mettle Meet championship organised by this newspaper .
Recently, he had done the NIIT proud by winning a prize at a national level quiz competition.
He was an ambitious student, who used to read books on psychology. He could even finish two to three psychology books in a day and shared his thoughts with his friends.
He had a penchant for looking into the social system and tradition of communities. His smartness and philosophical propensity towards life was something that attracted his friends.
Prayer was part of his routine life. He used to get upset if he was disturbed during his prayer.
He was a star attraction at all constructive and cultural progrmmes of the institute. He often anchored at cultural programmes.
He was also interested in journalism and used to take interview of professors for the webpage of NIT. He was associated with various institutions under NIIT. He used to collect news and edit them nicely. That apart, he was discussing various legal aspects of the country with his friends.
Apart from his studies, he used to discuss major national and international issues.
He was always on the lookout for lonely places for studies so as to keep off his class mates. He was found immersed in thoughts about life and universe. He had a limited friend circle.
