No charges for PwDs entering Maritime Museum

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik Thursday asked the officials concerned to allow persons with disabilities (PwDs) into the Cuttack-based Maritime Museum at free of cost.

Presiding over the fourth governing body meeting of the Maritime Museum here, Patniak instructed the officials not to charge PwD visitors during their visits to the SFX and aquarium gallery of the museum. The officials were also asked to grant 50 per cent concession to the visiting students below 14 years of age, official sources said.

Sources said the number of visitors to the museum is increasing day by day. The CM also suggested the officials to distribute brochures on the museum at all the schools and colleges of Cuttack to popularise maritime history of Odisha.

It was decided at the meeting to take up special projects for development and beautification of the Mahanadi riverbank in front of the museum.

The governing body also decided to re-structure salary of the museum employees and granted 21 days of extra annual salary to the employees there as they are working even on holidays.

Proposal for expansion of the aquarium and installation of Mirror Maze at the museum were also approved at the meeting.
