Tihidi: Scores of farmers in Tihidi block of Bhadrak district have allegedly not received assistance for crop damaged by cyclone storm Fani.
Protesting apathy of the administration, affected farmers staged an agitation at the tehsil office Friday. They met tehsildar Anita Nayak and demanded immediate step to provide them their assistance.
The tehsildar advised the farmers to meet assistant agriculture officer Antaryami Dhir.
Dhir said that steps will be taken to provide Fani assistance only according to instruction from the higher-ups.
The farmers said that Kanpada is a flood-prone area. “All of them depend on paddy farming. Fani had damaged all crops,” they lamented.
The government ordered to assess the damage and submit a report. But officials conducted a survey at their will.
The survey was botched up while many farmers were left out of the survey, they said, adding that even though they had earlier taken up the issue with the tehsildar, but nothing was done.
