Bhubaneswar: Despite low pressure triggering heavy rain across Odisha since Monday, State Disaster Management Department ruled out any possibility of flood situation in Odisha.
Deputy Relief Commissioner (DRC) Pravat Ranjan Mohapatra Tuesday said, “It has rained in places across Odisha. No district has been spared. It was essential also. But there is no flood like situation or any emergency situation. Only Bhubaneswar and Cuttack cities have a bit of water-logging situation.”
He informed, “So far river flood situation is concerned, Budhabalanga river is fine while Subarnarekha river crossed the danger level at Jamsola ghat. However, it has started receding. Whatever was the situation there at 6 am this morning, it has started receding by 9 am. At Rajghat it is below danger level. Hence it is hoped that there would be no flood situation there.”
“So far Jalaka river is concerned, it is a small river in Balasore district. It is flowing above danger level. But, it won’t affect the human habitat. Usually it affects paddy fields. As the district hasn’t experienced too much rain, it will also recede gradually,” the Deputy Relief Commissioner stated.
