Puri: Taking a serious note of online sale of Mahaprasad in the state, the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) Tuesday issued a press note claiming that it has not permitted any individual or organisation to sell the temple delicacies through online.
“Cooking and selling of Mahaprasad are the responsibility of Srimandir administration. We have urged the police to trace people who are selling Mahaprasad online and take action against them,” said the note.
The SJTA action came amid reports that at least five private entities illegally sell Mahaprasad through online platforms.
It is worth mentioning that a private entity, Divine of Odisha, had issued an advertisement on social media, claiming it was supplying Mahaprasad to interested people through an online platform. The advertisement mentioned about a website through which people can place their order for the Srimandir delicacies.
The issue created a hue and cry among servitors and devotees. Similarly, the temple administration also clarified that it has not permitted any servitor group to accept online invitation to Lord Jagannath from people for auspicious occasions like wedding ceremony.
There were reports that a servitor group has made necessary arrangement for online dispatch of invitations to the Lord.
