Bhubaneswar: No film from Orissa has found a place in Indian Panorama-2015 section of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI). The film festival is being held in Goa from November 20-30.
Although two Oriya films — ‘Pahadara Luha’ and ‘Tulasi Apa’ — and a Hindi film set in Orissa — ‘Adi Bhumi’ — were screened for Indian Panorama, none made it to the final shortlist.
‘Pahadara Luha’ has been directed by Sabyasachi Mohapatra, and ‘Tulasi Apa’ by Amiya Pattnaik. ‘Adi Bhumi’ has been directed by Satyabrata Dwibedy.
Sabyasachi’s films ‘Sala Budha’ and ‘Adim Bichar’, respectively, had been selected for Indian Panorama during the past two years.
Indian Panorama attempts to capture lingual and stylistic variety in films in both feature and non-feature categories.
This section encompasses many subcultures and lifestyles and includes creations from varied cultural landscape.
It appears none of the Oriya films were presented to the jury impressed them adequately.
