Bhubaneswar: Putting speculation over his plan to quit Congress party to rest, Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) working president and Jharsuguda MLA Naba Kishore Das Saturday clarified that he is not quitting the Congress.
Refuting the media reports that he is going to join the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD), Das said, “I am with the Congress since my student life. I am inspired by the principles and ideologies of the party. I was selected as the working president of the PCC because of my work.”
The Congress leader said he would continue to discharge his duties with due dedication and hence there is no question of quitting the party.
The clarification from Das came in the wake of Congress’ victory in three major states—Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.
Grapevines have it that Das has changed his mind after the victory of his party in the three states. Not only Das, some other Congress leaders, whose names were doing rounds for leaving the party have also dropped their idea for the time being.
The speculation over Das’s joining BJD was rife following his closeness with BJD President and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik during the inauguration of Sambalpur-Rourkela Biju Expressway at Jharsuguda in March this year.
In September, during the inauguration of Jharsuguda airport, Das and his relatives had a photo session with Naveen at the airport lounge, which had gone viral.
