Bhubaneswar: The director of Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA), Suresh Chandra Hota, has said that there is no immediate requirement of a second airport in Bhubaneswar as the current airport is yet to reach its saturation point.
Hota said that the land for setting up of the new airport near Khurda has been identified. The idea of a second airport has been floated since 2017.
The Airports Authority of India (AAI) had proposed another airport for the city to accommodate more flights in BPIA and wide body aircraft operations like A380 in the new airport.
