New Delhi: The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) has given its green signal to the construction of 13,421 affordable houses for urban poor under Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana (Urban) (PMAY-U).
According to the ministry sources, the houses will be built with an investment of Rs 399.7 crore out of which the Centre will provide an assistance of Rs 201.3 crore.
The housing proposals got the seal of approval of the ministry at the 38thmeeting of the Central Sanctioning and Monitoring Committee (CSMC) in which 11 states presented their fresh project proposals. Altogether, the MoHUA has approved construction of 6,26,488 houses.
The ministry has sanctioned 2,34,897 houses for the benefit of urban poor in Uttar Pradesh while 1,40,559 affordable houses are sanctioned for Andhra Pradesh.
The ministry in a statement said that with the above proposed houses, cumulative approvals under PMAY-U have become 60,28,608 after final approval from CSMC.
