Bhubaneswar, August 12: The state government has sanctioned Rs 2.7 crore for installation of Wi-Fi services at 27 colleges in the state for 2015-16 academic session.
The system will be installed in the educational institutions in consultation with Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), which will act as the executing agency for the ambitious project. The higher education department has already sanctioned Rs 1.5 crore for installation of the facility at six state-run universities.
The colleges which will avail the facilities are: Government College, Angul, Fakir Mohan College, Balasore, Bhadrak College, Bhadrak, Rajendra College, Bolangir, Dhenkanal College, Dhenkanal, Sri Krushan Chandra Gajapati College, Paralakhemundi, Sashi Bhusan Rath Government Women’s College, Berhampur, Narasingha Choudhury College, Jajpur, Government College, Phulbani, Dharanidhar College, Keonjhar and Buxi Jagabandhu Bidyadhar College, Bhubaneswar. Each college will receive a grant of `10 lakh for installation of the modern facility.
Others in the list are: Government Degree College, Sundargarh, VD College, Jeypore, Maharaja Purna Chandra College, Takatpur, SCS College, Puri, Government Women’s College, Bhawanipatna, Government College, Rourkela, Kuntala Kumari Sabat Women’s College, Balasore, Government Women’s College, Sambalpur, Government Degree College, Koraput and Government Women’s College, Sundargarh.
Students of Sushilabati Government Women’s College, Rourkela, Government Women’s College Keonjhar, Shailabala Women’s College, Government Women’s College, Dhenkanal and Panchayat Degree College, Bargarh will also avail the Wi-Fi facility.
