Nod to DM course at Cuttack’s AHPGIC

Bhubaneswar: The National Medical Commission (NMC) has approved the proposal to start Doctorate of Medicine (DM) course at the Department of Medical Oncology (two seats) of Acharya Harihar Post Graduate Institute of Cancer (AHPGIC) in Cuttack, an official said, Wednesday. According to the Health and Family Welfare (H&FW) department, the new course will start from the 2024-25 academic session and will strengthen medical education in Odisha. The NMC had May 7 approved the proposal to start postgraduate (PG) courses in the Department of Anaesthesiology (three seats) and Department of Ophthalmology (three seats) in the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) and the Capital Hospital here from 2024-25 academic year. Notably, it was April 24, 1984 when the Regional Cancer Centre for Research and Treatment in SCB, Cuttack was declared an autonomous institution and named Acharya Harihar Regional Cancer Centre after the great social worker Acharya Harihara, a disciple of Acharya Vinoba Bhabe, founder of the Bhoodan movement.
