Normalcy restored in Kendrapara

Kendrapara: The curfew clamped in this town from 4pm Thursday to 6am Friday was lifted on schedule. The curfew had been imposed following a violent clash between two groups one of which had taken out a procession to celebrate the birth anniversaries of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and Veer Surendra Sai.

After the withdrawal of curfew, a ‘peace rally’ comprising administrative officials, political leaders and senior citizens was taken out. Collector Dasarathy Satpathy and SP Niti Shekhar informed that the situation has become normal after Thursday evening’s ‘Peace Committee’ meeting.

However, prohibitory orders under Section 144 of CrPC are still in force. In view of Republic Day celebrations Saturday, it is possible that the prohibitory orders may be lifted by Friday evening.
