Bhubaneswar, June 2: The responsibility of repair and maintenance of primary and upper primary school buildings in the state will now be on Panchayati Raj and Housing & Urban Development departments, officials of Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) said Saturday.
While the Panchayati Raj & Drinking Water department will be responsible for repair and maintenance of these school buildings in rural areas, the Housing & Urban Development department will be in-charge in urban areas.
Officials said that maintenance of most secondary schools are under Rural development department and H&UD department at present.
Meanwhile, the government has decided that maintenance of all high schools and upgraded high schools will be in the hands of Rural Development department in rural areas and H&UD department in urban areas.
