BHUBANESWAR: Popular playback singer and music director Prashant Padhy has been nominated to receive Shantilata Samman for 2018.
According to a press release issued by Shantilata Barik Chotray Cultural Trust president Brajakishore Dash, the coveted award would be conferred on Prashant Padhi at a special occasion in Soochana Bhawan here November 9.
Winner of Shantilata music competition Sharanya Mishra will also be given away an award to mark the occasion.
Odisha Governor Prof. Ganeshi Lal is expected to felicitate the musicians at the event. Renowned Odia artistes from across the state are expected to regale the audience by rendering memorable numbers sung by Shantilata Barik at the event.
Singers Manmath Mishra, Amarendra Mohanty, Bijay Kumar Jena, Sudhakar Mishra, Prashant Padhy, Ipsita Panda and Deviprabha Panda have been invited to participate in the musical nite, Dash said and sought the cooperation of all music buffs in the city.
Prashant Padhy, 57, began his musical journey as a singer and composer of devotional songs. With his unique style and modulation he drew accolades and drew the attention of top-rated music directors and producers. Film producer Anam Sahu signed Prashant Padhi for his feature film in 2008. His first successful break into films came with Lakshmi Puja Production’s movie ‘Nandini I love You’. He has also composed music for several superhit films like ‘Mita re Mita’, ‘Dream Girl’, ‘Prem Rogi’, ‘Bhool Bujhibani Mote’, ‘Sanju au Sanjana’, ‘Mana Khoje Manatie’, ‘Mu Premi Mu Pagal’, ‘E Mana Khoje Mana Tie’ ,‘Sapath’ and ‘Emiti Bi Prema Hue’ among others.
