Nuapada: Vigilance sleuths Sunday conducted simultaneous raids on the properties of chief district veterinary officer (CDVO), Nuapada after a huge amount of cash was recovered from his government vehicle.
CDVO Trilochan Dhal was on his way to Cuttack in his official vehicle carrying Rs 2,77,000 in cash when the anti-corruption agency officers stopped him. Upon his failure to explain the source of the money, the officials initiated raids.
Vigilance teams from Kalahandi and Nuapada districts led by Koraput Vigilance DSP carried out search operations at Dhal’s government quarters and office in Nuapada district and his ancestral house at Naraj in Cuttack district.
“The exact value of the officer’s moveable and immovable assets is yet to be ascertained as the raids are underway,” informed an official.
Notably, Vigilance officials had August 7 conducted simultaneous raids at the residences and office of Rabindra Kumar Mohanty, who works as a senior clerk of Puintala block in Bolangir district, on charges of accumulating assets disproportionate to his known sources of income. His residence at Sagarpada in the town, house at Dihamal village under Gudvela block and his office chamber in Puintala were raided.
Three days earlier, properties of Kishore Chandra Pradhan, who works as an eye technician at Padampur sub-divisional hospital in Bargarh district were raided.
Back in July 30, the properties of Biranchi Narayan Sahoo, who then worked as private secretary to member, Odisha Staff Selection Commission (OSSC) in Bhubaneswar were raided in connection with a disproportionate assets case. Later, he was arrested and given compulsory retirement.
