Nuapada: Newly appointed Nuapada collector Madhusmita Sahoo made a surprise inspection of Khariar Road community healthcare centre (CHC) Friday evening.
Thousands of patients depend on this healthcare centre located at a distant of 10kilometres from district headquarters. Collector Sahoo interacted with the patients pertaining to the issues they face at the hospital and the quality of services offered there.
Sahoo directed the hospital authorities to provide better services to the patients. She also took stock of the facilities at the maternity unit along with other wards. Taking serious note on the rise in child deaths, she advised the doctors to focus on decreasing infant mortality rate. Besides, she directed the doctors to prepare a comprehensive report on pregnant mothers.
At least 20 pregnant women should be treated every month, she directed the hospital authorities. Further, Sahoo advised the hospital staff to motivate pregnant mothers to stay at least 48 hours in the hospital after delivery.
