Nurse Niharika murder case still a hard nut for police

Cuttack: In connection with nurse Niharika’s murder case, Biridi police have sealed the house at Apannanagar under Chauliaganj police limits in this town as the case is still a mystery for the police to be solved.

Even though Kishore Chandra Aanchal alias Raja has been arrested for murdering his girlfriend-turned-fiancé Niharika Patra and quizzed during his three days’ remand, the police are yet to solve the mystery shrouded Nurse Niharika murder case.

Kishore confessed before the police that he had killed Niharika by strangulating her at a house at Apannanagar under Chauliaganj police limits that was taken on rent by Sunil, Kishore’s friend.

But the cops are still not in a position to buy Kishore’s confession given the forensic team spotted some blood stains on walls of the room where Kishore killed Niharika during its investigation September 24. The blood stains on the walls have literally given lie to the accused’s statement, making the case more mysterious.

Notably, Niharika, daughter of Gagan Patra and Pratima Patra of Bhingarpur under Balianta police limits in Khurda district, fell in love with Kishore, a resident of Hajipur village under Biridi police limits in Jagatsinghpur district, when she was pursuing her nursing training, staying at Biridi five years ago.

After completion of training, Niharika got a job at a nursing home in Cuttack when Kishore was still unemployed. Yet the families of both sides had also acquiesced in their decision to get married. However, Niharika was delaying the marriage, asking Kishore to be employed first. Raja took her from the nursing home September 8 and killed her at a house, taken on rent by Sunil. The matter came to the fore after missing complaints were filed by the nursing home authorities and Niharika’s family members. Later her body was found from Biluakhai riverbed near Hajipur Nuapari under Biridi police limits September 17, nine days after her murder.
