Barang: Nandankanan Zoological Park (NZP), on the outskirts of the state capital here, welcomed a female pangolin, Friday.
Sources at the zoo said that the three-year-old scaly anteater had been brought to NZP from Athagarh.
“A few locals of Kharoda village near Talachandragiri under Badamba forest range in Athagarh spotted the mammal near the village entrance and managed to nab it. Later, they handed it over to the forest officials who in turn sent it to Nandankanan,” said a zoo official, adding that the pangolin was being given first-aid at the zoo veterinary facility here.
With this pangolin, the number of scaly anteaters at NZP has reached 20.
