Bhubaneswar/Jajpur: The father-in-law of a senior OAS officer was arrested Thursday night for raping a minor tribal girl which led to her pregnancy, police said Friday. The OAS officer has been identified as Pramod Kumar Prusty while his father-in-law is Prafulla Prusty.

Accused Prafulla was arrested by a special investigating team (SIT) of Jajpur police for raping the domestic help. He was nabbed from the OAS officer’s residence in Shailashree Vihar of Bhubaneswar.
The medical examination of Prafulla was conducted following his arrest. Police have been interrogating him and he was produced before court Friday, police sources informed.
On the other hand, action will be taken against the OAS officer as per the Child and Adolescent Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act, as amended in 2016, Jajpur police sources said.
Police have launched a manhunt for middleman Brahmananda Barik who had engaged the minor girl at the officer’s residence. The OAS officer is on leave at present.
The minor girl is now five months pregnant. The girl’s mother who is a native of Nanapur village in Jajpur district had lodged a written complaint at Balichandrapur police station November 1. In her complaint she alleged that her daughter was repeatedly raped by Prafulla for close to six months. Her daughter had returned home during Dussehra. She had then noticed the physical transformation had gone through. When questioned, her daughter had narrated the horrific ordeal she had to go through.
