Obama’s ‘auto ride’ around Delhi, animated figures of Narendra and Barack dancing together … White House posts celebrate the new Indo-US bonhomie

Indo-Asian News Service, Washington, Jan 29: The White House posted the highlights of President Barack Obama’s visit to India with several pictures and a light hearted video report anchored by Indian-American Hollywood star Kal Penn.

First Lady Michelle Obama @FLOTUS tweeted followers Thursday to “Check out the photos of the President and First Lady at the Republic Day parade in India at go.wh.gov/ij5fVCa¿

Titled “Chalein saath saath; forward together we go – India-US Delhi Declaration of Friendship” the White House report noted it was “their first time visiting the South Asian nation since Prime Minister Narendra Modi was sworn in on May 26, 2014”.

“America and India are true global partners in the work of strengthening economies and strong democracies. That is why the President is the first to have visited India twice while in office,” it said.

“On Board with Kal Penn: A Trip of Firsts” video by a former Obama administration official gives “a rundown on what brought President Obama to India this time around” and shows him travelling around Delhi sitting in an auto-rickshaw.

The 2.52-minute video report, explaining the significance of the Obama trip, ends with Kal Penn telling the auto-rickshaw driver “Chalo hum Saudi Arabia chalenge.” (Let’s go to Saudi Arabia).

A short clip with animated figures of Obama and Modi dancing to the tune of “Obama, Obama, Obama, Obama O!” from the comic “So Sorrya” episode titled ‘America Se Aaya Mera Dost’ from India Today group brings the curtain down.
