Patrapada: Tension prevailed high at Shaympur Chowk under Khandagiri police limits late Monday night after Odia movie actor Babushan Mohanty’s car hit a pedestrian injuring him fatally.
The injured person has been identified as Ranjan Naik. He sustained serious fractures in both his legs. The incident occurred while the actor was returning from a film shoot late Monday night.
According to locals, Ranjan had gone to watch the film shooting that was taking place close to his home. While on his way back home, the actor’s car, reportedly bearing no number plate rear-ended Ranjan.
The incident spread tension in the area as locals’ picketed on the road demanding immediate treatment expenses for the injured and arrest of the actor.
On being informed, the police reached the spot and pacified the irate locals. Ranjan was rushed to a nearby hospital while the cops have seized the vehicle and detained the driver for interrogation.
Sources said, the actor was shooting for a movie that is set to release on the festive occasion of Dasahara 2019.
