Bhubaneswar: Odia actor Sabyasachi Mishra who has earned the moniker ‘Odisha’s Sonu Sood’ will be conferred with the ‘Gandhi National Service Award 2020’ by the state unit of Bharat Scouts and Guides Fellowship for helping out stranded migrant workers during the nationwide lockdowns due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

A decision in this regard to honour the engineer-turned-actor was taken at executive council meeting of the state unit of the Bharat Scouts and Guides Fellowship Friday afternoon.
Sabyasachi will be conferred with the award at a special function October 24, official sources informed.
The award was announced in the presence of Bharat Scouts and Guides Fellowship state president KP Mishra, Padma Shree awardee Dilip Tirkey and actress Archita Sahu among others, public relations officer (PRO) of the organisation Gajendranath Behera said.
“It was great news that made my Gandhi Jayanti so special. Receiving ‘Gandhi National Service Award 2020’ will be a big achievement of my life. I thank the state unit of Bharat Scouts and Guides Fellowship for considering me eligible for this rare honour. I promise to keep my social services continuing to the best of my abilities,” Sabyasachi mentioned in a post on his Facebook page.
