Odia artist chosen for Int’l camp

BHUBANESWAR: A 15-member team of artists will soon participate in a 3-day International artist camp cum conference at Lakshadweep.

This camp, which is organised by Lakshadweep tourism department, is scheduled to be held from November 12 to November 15, 2018. Odia artist Manas Ranjan Jena, who is also the secretary of Odisha Lalit kala Akademi, has been selected for the event.

On a brief interaction with Orissa Post, Jena said, “Art is a continuous process of evolution. I am grateful to the Lakshadweep tourism department for including me in the 15 member group. I will meet famous painters like Mark Rainer from Italy, Jean Charles from France and Mohammed Ibrahim from Egypt. I will paint a traditional painting from Odisha as well as a contemporary one.”

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The camp will also witness work of eminent artistes like Anup Chand, Bidyasagar Upadhay, Bikash Kumar and Poonam Chandra among others. Odisha Lalit Kala Akademi’s president Sudarshan Patnaik also said, “Odisha will be highlighted as Manas Ranjan Jena’s paintings are going to feature in the camp.”

Shewta Padma, an art critic who will also accompany the artistes in the camp, said, “Jena’s paintings will surely receive a lot of plaudits at the event. He is planning to showcase Odisha’s art and culture on canvas.”
