Odia boy Subham earns plaudits from legendary artistes

BHUBANESWAR: In a proud moment for the state, Odia boy Subham Pradhan received a singing note from music composer A R Rahman at the audition of reality show ‘The Voice’.

Pradhan presented a song ‘Maa’ from the movie ‘Rang De Basanti’. The music maestro called him and said, “I just want to hug you. I could not stop myself from singing a song for you.”

His way of rendering ‘Zindagi Kaisi Hai Paheli Hai’ from movie ‘Anand’ prompted his coach and musician Adnan Sami to press the buzzer for his performance. However, Subham was not able to impress the others judges present at the show like Harshdeep Kaur, Armaan Malik and Kanika Kapoor.

Subham hails from Balasore district of Odisha. In order to showcase his talent, Subham chose to sing remixes of the numbers. Adnan Sami said, “I was impressed by his simplicity. I could also feel the sorrow in his voice.”

On being enquired about the sorrow in his voice, he said, “There are some minor issues in family. I use that emotion to enhance my songs. The two most important parts of my life are music and my mother who is always there for me.”
