BHUBANESWAR: On the occasion of National Milk Day that marks the birth anniversary of Verghese Kurien, dairy major Milk Mantra has forayed into the dairy dessert category by launching Odisha’s quintessential Chhena poda.
Milk Mantra has launched the new product by honouring Kurien through a beautiful sand art created by renowned sand artist and Padma Shri Sudarsan Pattnaik on the beach of Puri. Kurien is fondly remembered as ‘Father of White Revolution’ in India. Odisha is well known for its art forms as artists of the state have showcased it at various national and international platforms. However, delicacies of the state are yet to receive such limelight. This is set to change with the launch of packaged chhena poda by Milk Mantra.
Speaking on the occasion, Milk Mantra’s Head of Sales and Marketing Swayam Prakash Misra said, “India has treasured several culinary secrets for ages and its unique traditional desserts have always been a revelation to the world. Chhena poda from Odisha is equally unique.
However, due to poor packaging and hygiene, the true taste of Chhena poda was compromised earlier. We have attempted to change that by the launch of our new product. We plan to take this delightful dessert of the state to major cities, and have already aligned the distribution channels to take the delicacy across eastern India.”
Debashish Mohanty, Head of Quality and NPD, Milk Mantra said, “Milky Moo chhena podá is made from ethically sourced pure milk and with its packaging innovation, the fresh taste is retained by its individual peel-able vacuum packs. Even without any preservatives, it has an extended shelf life of 15 days.”
The product has been crafted for contemporary consumers. In an attempt to preserve the traditional method of baking soft cottage wrapped in Sal leaves, it is processed in its state-of-the-art plant at Gop, Puri. The product is low in sugar and has lesser suji in comparison to other variants available in the market. Apart from fresh milk, the company produces a range of functionally innovative and premium dairy products including fortified milk, pro-biotic dahi and Litchi Lassi among others.
