Bhubaneswar: Mortal remains of fallen jawan Pratap Ranjan Parida from Malla village under Badatara Panchayat of Gop block in Odisha’s Puri district will be consigned to flames Monday, a source said.

The body reached Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar and was accorded with guard of honour Sunday evening. His body was later set off to his ancestral village where the last rites will be conducted.

The family of Parida received the news of his death from the Border Security Force (BSF) authorities. They were informed that Parida met with an accident Sunday while on his way to a ghat from Sura camp, as he accidentally fell into a roadside ditch.

However, Parida’s wife has alleged that his husband has been killed and she demanded a CBI probe into the death.

Although the reason behind Parida’s demise remains unknown, a deep sense of sadness engulfed the village as the news spread.

It can be mentioned here that Parida’s older sibling serves in the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). His younger brother lost his life in a traffic accident two years ago.
