Kodala: The death of an Odia labourer in Malaysia under mysterious circumstances has shocked his family and the people of Bardakhpali village of Ganjam district.
The deceased, Santosh Achari, (24), was the son of Subhash Achari. The Malaysian police said he had hanged himself. They sent his body for post-mortem and registered a case of unnatural death.
The matter came out after his body arrived in his village nine days after the incident. A pall of gloom descended on the village as his family cremated the body.
Santosh’s family said he had gone to Malaysia for work three months ago. They were shell shocked on learning about his death September 13. But they are not ready to buy the claim that Santosh committed suicide.
Suspecting someone might have killed him some of his relatives visited Malaysia, and reviewed the situation there. They appealed to the Malaysian police to conduct a thorough probe into the incident.
