Nabarangpur: With a mission to spread the message of blood donation across the country and create awareness among fellowmen, an Odia youth named Jayadev Rout has began a journey on his bicycle.
According to sources, he happens to be the brand ambassador of Federation of Indian Blood Donors Organisations (FIBDO). Although presently he resides at Kolkata, he belongs to Dhamnagar area of Bhadrak district. Rout started his mission from the workplace November 7 this year and reached Nabarangpur district.
During his tour, he has been meeting various people at different youth associations, schools and colleges. He will travel to states— West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, Telengana and Tamil Nadu— after his statewide journey. He left for Koraput Monday, sources said.
While at Nabarangpur, he was welcomed by the district Coordinator of Red Cross Akhila Bhatta. He also discussed with the local students, met Additional Collector Nimain Charan Sutar and Nabarangpur IIC Tarique Ahmed, during his stay in the district.
Notably, while donated blood is beneficial for people in need, donating blood also benefits the donor. Some medical professionals maintain that it reduces excessive iron levels, identifies adverse health effects, helps people feel good about themselves and burn calories.
It may be mentioned here that certain injuries and illnesses quickly cause a person’s blood level to drop. In the absence of adequate blood, one will not be able to receive enough oxygen in one’s body, thereby resulting in death.
Blood donation is the only choice left before us all to save the life of a person in critical hours. Hospitals and medical centres across the globe depend on donated blood to save the lives of patients.
Blood donation occurs when blood is drawn from a person (voluntary blood donor) to be used for transfusions and/or made into biopharmaceutical medications by the separation of whole-blood components or specific components directly.
