Bhubaneswar: Popular music director and singer of Odia films Amarendra Mohanty breathed his last at the age of 63 years, while undergoing treatment at a private hospital here Monday morning. Mohanty was suffering from Covid-19 related complications. The renowned music director was under treatment for the last few days after testing positive for Covid-19.
Mohanty’s health condition turned critical since Friday and he had been put on ventilator support for the last three days. Despite the best attempts of the doctors, Mohanty failed to respond to treatment and breathed his last.

Anwesha, the daughter of the noted music director confirmed the sad news while talking to mediapersons. A pall of gloom descended on the Odia film industry as news of Mohanty’s demise spread.
Mohanty, a resident of Cuttack, has several Odia bhajans and hit film songs to his credit as a singer and a music director. He had composed a number of well-known songs for popular Odia films like ‘Bhai Hela Bhagari’, ‘Stree’, ‘Suna Panjuri’, ‘Kandhei Akhire Luha’ and many more.
