Odia singer Sourin Bhatt accused of exploitation; FIR lodged

Bhubaneswar: A woman from Cuttack has levelled allegations of exploitation against Odia playback singer Sourin Bhatt, a source said.

According to the source, the complainant, who works for a private bank, has filed an FIR at Mahila Police Station in Cuttack.

Cuttack DCP Pinak Mishra said that the woman has alleged that Sourin kept relations with her on false promise of giving her a break in singing. He had also allegedly cheated her of some money, added Mishra.

The cops advised the woman to approach Mahila Police Station to lodge an FIR.

Sourin or the alleged victim could not be contacted to share their versions of the incident.

According to the source, the woman came in contact with Sourin in 2015.

Crime against women in entertainment industry occupied headlines recently after Odia film producer Sanjay Nayak was accused of casting couch by actress Prakruti Mishra and some other actresses.

Addressing reporters, Nayak said that he will file a defamation case against Prakruti, another actress Jasmine Rath and a news channel that broadcasted their statement against him.

Later in the controversy, a case was registered against Nayak following an FIR by Prakruti at a police station in Mumbai. Prakruti lodged the FIR against Nayak alleging that his statements in the past have defamed her and her family.
