BHUBANESWAR: The 26th session of Sanskruti Charcha was organised at State Archives here Wednesday.
Renowned writer and Professor Braja Mohan Mishra graced the occasion as chief speaker. He spoke about the essence of Indian literature and Shakespearean dramas as well as evolution of literature throughout the 20th century.
Principal Secretary of the Odia language, literature and culture of State Archives Manoranjan Panigrahi and Director of Odia Literature, language, Bijay Nayak, Curator Suchismita Mantry were also present at the occasion.
Mishra said, “Odia literature has always been a great inspiration for every other language and it had its influence on other languages too. Up till 17th century, Odia language and literature soared. However, things became less experimental after 18th century. Every writer followed the easier path and failed to experiment on new front. The evolution of literature has faced both ups and downs in our state. Odisha also has world class poets and writers. To encourage writers, we must hold such workshops and seminars more often.”
Panigrahi said, “Mishra is an intellectual both in Odia and English literature.” Many renowned writer, poets and researchers of both Odia and English literature were present on the occasion.
