Bhubaneswar: In a rare feat, an Odia youth and member of a local socio-cultural association, Chinmaya Moharana has successfully scaled Mount Yunam in Himalayan mountain range bringing glory to the state, Friday.
The mountaineer conquered a height of 6,111 metres and reached the peak, a spokesperson of the organisation informed Saturday.
According to sources, a six-member team led by Chinmaya had taken part in the expedition. The team leader started from Bharatpur base camp in Himachal Pradesh and successfully reached the peak. Other members namely Ajit Padhi and Avilipsa scaled 5,800 metre and 5,300 metre respectively, the spokesperson expressed.

It is pertinent to mention here that the expedition was jointly organised on the occasion of 75th year of India’s Independence by National Adventure Club (NAC) and Education department of Haryana.
Seventy-five youths from across the country hoisted a 75-metre-long national flag at the base camp. They also recited the national Anthem to mark the end of expedition. The expedition was flagged off September 29 by Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar.
