Bhubaneswar: A young surfer from Odisha Narayan Munda clinched the silver medal in National Sailor Championship which was held in Goa.
Narayan, who hails from Panposh in Rourkela, secured the second position in the sailing in Under-19 category. He eyes for winning gold in the next event scheduled to take place in Chennai.
Narayana’s coach Sabir Baux praised him for his dedication and congratulated him for winning the silver. He further said that he will try to prepare Narayan for the Olympics within five years.
Notably, Narayan used to practice on Mahanadi and Bay of Bengal near Ramachandi beach in Puri district.
It can also be mentioned here that Narayan Munda won a bronze medal at the National Windsurfing Championship-2016 held in Goa. At that time he was 14 years old and was studying in Class-IX. He also took part in sailing training under the aegis of the Indian Navy in Goa along with three other young sailors from Odisha.
